Printing & Sharing in Microsoft Visio 2007
Microsoft Visio has numerous printing and sharing options available to you to distribute your illustrations. A drawing doesn’t do you much good if you can’t get it off your computer, so you have several options available to print the drawing, as well as sharing options to send it to an associate.
Saving Your Microsoft Visio Drawing
Creating a Visio drawing doesn’t do you any good if you don’t save it. Microsoft Visio gives you a number of options for formats you can save the file as. We learned in previous sections of this tutorial how to save your Visio drawing in vsd format. There are numerous other formats you can save in.
Select the File menu.
Click on Save As.
Click on Drawing (*.vsd) at the bottom. You will see the available formats to save your file in.
Publishing Your Drawing
Microsoft provides a couple of shortcuts to publish your drawing. You can publish the drawing as PDF or XPS (Microsoft’s attempt at a PDF like file format). This will allow you to easily share your drawing with coworkers and associates.
- Click the File menu.
- Select Publish as PDF or XPS.
- Navigate to the folder you want to save the file in. Name the file and click Publish.
- Visio will save a PDF of your drawing and open it in PDF Reader.
Send Your Drawing via Email
Send your drawings to co-workers or friends using the built-in feature to email a file.
- Select the File menu and select Send to.
- Select Mail Recipient (As Attachment).
- This will attach your file into your favorite email client – such as Microsoft Outlook – to send to an associate.
