The Microsoft Visio 2007 Interface
If you’ve used any Microsoft Office product, you’ll be familiar with the Microsoft Visio 2007 interface. The menus and toolbars are similar to other Microsoft applications allowing you quickly learn the interface and how to efficiently accomplish your work. In this section of the Microsoft Visio course, you will learn how to navigate the menus, toolbars, panels, and task panes.
In this section, you will become familiar with the Microsoft Visio interface and start to learn how to navigate and use it to your advantage when creating and modifying Visio drawings. Your goal in this section of the free Microsoft Visio tutorial is to become familiar with the software user interface and understand generally where you would look if you need to accomplish a task.
The Menus
The menus contain all of the commands and options you might want to use while using Microsoft Visio. You will see your typical menus such as File, Edit, and Window, but you’ll also see menus for Data and Shape which contain commands and options for Visio.
File Menu
The file menu contains the options and commands to create a new Visio drawing, open an existing Visio drawing, saving, printing, and other application actions.
Edit Menu
The edit menu contains commands and options to copy and paste items in your drawing and other editing tools.
View Menu
The view menu allows you to display certain Visio windows and view options (such as zoom).
Insert Menu
You can insert objects and files into Visio drawings using the insert menu. This is a useful menu when you’re building complex illustrations.
Format Menu
The format menu let’s you control how objects are displayed in your drawing.
Tools Menu
You can select different Visio tools such as spelling, research, or macros in the tools menu.
Data Menu
The data menu helps you control the linking of objects in a Visio drawing.
Shape Menu
The shape menu allows you to manipulate objects in your Visio drawing.
Window Menu
The window menu allows you to open and close different panels and interface sections of the Visio application.
Help Menu
The help menu allows you to access Microsoft Visio help and links to Microsoft resources.
