Manually Connecting Shapes in Visio

We’re going to start creating a conceptual web site drawing in Visio. Click new, select Network then click on Conceptual Web Site. This drawing type allows you lay out the potential pages on a web site before you begin construction. We added a home page shape and a web page shape to the page – neither one is currently connected. It looks like this on our Visio drawing:

All good drawings must start somewhere and this is a pretty simple beginning for our conceptual web site. The two objects are not currently connect, so let’s connect them. At the top of your window, in the standard toolbar you will see the Connector Tool button, it looks like this: . Click the button. Your arrow button has now changed to the connector tool cursor:

Using the connector tool cursor, click on the blue x that is at the bottom of the home page shape and then drag down to the top blue x on the About web page shape:

You’ve now connected these two shapes manually. You can click on the button in the standard toolbar when you’re finished connecting objects. This will change your cursor back to an arrow.
